Cartier Tank - Extra Plate

Overview

The Extra-plate versions of any Vintage Cartier watch are for the collectors looking for something exceptionally rare. These extra-plate, or “extra thin” watches wear much better on the wrist and are also powered by a higher grade Fredric Piaget 21 movement. There were only ~5,000 examples of the 96019 produced between 1974 - 1980, much fewer than its cousin, the Cartier Tank (78086), of which ~15,000 examples were produced. At first glance this might look like a standard tank, but collectors who know, know.

Condition

This watch is in exceptional condition for its age and one of the top examples available. Case is unpolished with very minor scratches. Hands retain their bright blue color with no corrosion. Dial is nearly flawless with no cracks, but only the slightest blemish near the hour hand at 10 o’clock. Movement is running well and keeping good time, yet last service date is not known. Strap is the original Cartier Lizard leather band with minor wear.
